Richardson Devine Marine Constructions (RDM) are proud and excited to announce their award of the Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) and Sydney Ferries Government Tender to build seven 24 metre passenger ferries. The new ferries, to be known as the Parramatta Class are to replace the aged fleet of Rivercat ferries that have been in service for 30 years. They will predominantly be in service between Circular Quay to the Parramatta River carrying up to 200 passengers. They are a diesel powered, low wash, fuel efficient vessel that have been designed by leading Sydney based Naval Architects, Incat Crowther. The design offers flexibility to convert to electric propulsion when engine replacement is due, aligned with improved battery technologies and charging infrastructure development.

This is a two year project with the first of the seven vessels to be delivered February 2024
